Spunsulation is a reflective foil radiant barrier insulation. It is manufactured for all sections of the construction industry. Radiant foil insulations are used for roofing and wall applications. You can even use spunsulation instead of the normal plastic underlay in your roof for reflective insulation properties and other added benefits.spunsulation reflective foil insulation

How is spunsulation made?

These products are manufactured by laminating a non-woven polypropylene spunbond membrane to highly reflective aluminium sheets which create a technologically advanced product with high-performing physical properties.

How does spunsulation work?

Being a reflective foil radiant barrier, spunsulation reduces solar heat and radiation for entering your attic, and decreases heat build-up in your roof. By eliminating the heat that flows through your roof and into your home or building, you reduce power consumption by putting less strain on your heating and cooling systems to keep you building at a more pleasant temperature.

Is spunsulation dust proof?

Over time dust will settle on the reflective surface of the radiant barrier and decrease its ability to reflect efficiently. It will not be a drastic change but it will effect it. Spunsulation will prevent dust from entering you roof.

Is spunsulation waterproof?

This is one of the many benefits of spunsulation, it acts as a water and moisture barrier, the same way that the plastic underlay in your roof does. It’s preferred to use reflective foil radiant barriers like spunsulation, sisalation or alububble instead of the usual plastic underlay. Spunsulation will also last longer than plastic underlay and save you money over time by reducing your power consumption.

How do you install spunsulation?

The best way, which is most efficient and less time consuming to install spunsulation or any radiant barrier for that matter is to get it installed during the construction of your building before the roof tiles or corrugated iron sheets get installed. It can be retrofit to existing commercial, residential or industrial buildings at a later stage but it will take a lot more time for the job to get completed.
